Software Engineer (Web, CMS & eCommerce)
Role Overview
The Software Engineer (Web, CMS & eCommerce) is an entry-level engineering role for individuals with prior experience in building and maintaining websites using content management systems (CMS), eCommerce platforms, and low-code/no-code tools. This role focuses on supporting both client-led and internal web-based projects, ensuring visual quality, usability, and performance, while applying basic front-end coding skills where needed.
The ideal candidate has experience working with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Webflow), understands eCommerce platform (e.g. Magento) workflows, and can implement designs using HTML/CSS and basic scripting.
Key Responsibilities
Website & CMS Development
- Develop, maintain, and enhance websites using CMS and website builders (e.g., WordPress, Magento).
- Customize themes, templates, and content structures with light use of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Support landing pages, microsites, blogs, and campaign pages based on project needs.
Content & eCommerce Management
- Update digital content across pages (text, images, files, links, metadata, etc.).
- Manage basic eCommerce components such as product listings, collections, and checkout configurations.
- Coordinate with marketing or design teams to implement website changes and updates.
Technical Support & Optimization
- Troubleshoot website display issues, bugs, and plugin/module conflicts.
- Optimize web pages for responsiveness, performance, and SEO.
- Assist with analytics integration and web performance tracking.
Documentation & Growth
- Maintain documentation for content structures, plug-ins, and CMS configurations.
- Continuously improve through technical training on CMS tools, web accessibility, and low-code platforms.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Web Development, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
At least 2 years of experience working with CMS or eCommerce platforms, or in web development projects.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficient in HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript.
- Experience with at least one CMS (e.g., WordPress, Webflow) or eCommerce platform (e.g., Magento, Shopify, WooCommerce).
- Understanding of web accessibility, SEO principles, and responsive design.
- Familiarity with low-code/no-code page builders (e.g., Elementor, AEM) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, visual consistency, and usability.
