Job Description

The Subject-Matter Expert / Development Editor will be responsible for overseeing the development and quality assurance of Filipino learning materials in collaboration with writers, editors, consultants, and other project contributors. The engagement will be project-based and intermittent over a one (1)-year period from July 2026 to June 2027, subject to adjustments based on project requirements and timelines.


Key Responsibilities


1. Planning and Content Framework Development

  • Participate in discussions related to the overall pedagogical direction, instructional approach, and content development strategy for educational materials.
  • Develop content frameworks, outlines, editorial guidelines, and sample prototypes for learning and teacher-support materials, as required.
  • Contribute to the establishment of editorial and language standards to ensure consistency across project outputs.


2. Content Development Management

  • Coordinate and oversee the development of assigned manuscripts and related learning resources, ensuring alignment with curriculum competencies and instructional objectives.
  • Monitor content progress and support writers in maintaining consistency, clarity, and quality across materials.


3. Editorial and Quality Assurance

  • Conduct developmental editing to improve content structure, organization, readability, and instructional effectiveness.
  • Ensure that materials are age-appropriate, culturally relevant, and pedagogically sound
  • Review and validate the accuracy and effectiveness of examples, exercises, assessments, and instructional components.
  • Provide clear, constructive, and actionable feedback to writers and collaborators.
  • Coordinate with editors, consultants, proofreaders, artists, and designers to maintain the overall quality and consistency of project outputs.


4. Design and Production Coordination

  • Collaborate with designers and illustrators to ensure that written and visual elements are cohesive, accessible, and supportive of learner engagement.


5. Curriculum and Pedagogical Alignment

  • Work closely with other content developers and support-material writers to ensure coherence, alignment, and consistency across related educational resources.
  • Ensure that materials effectively support curriculum competencies


6. Production Support

  • Assist, as needed, in the preparation and finalization of materials for print and/or digital release.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least ten (10) years of experience teaching Filipino or Araling Panlipunan at the elementary level (Grades 1–6), or equivalent experience in developmental editing and educational content development in Filipino
  • Excellent command of the Filipino language, including grammar, syntax, tone, and usage
  • Strong understanding of curriculum standards, pedagogy, and learner development
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate educational materials for age appropriateness, instructional effectiveness, and learner engagement
  • Strong editorial, collaboration, and project coordination skills
