Job Description
The Head of Business Development will be responsible for driving the company’s revenue growth through strategic sales initiatives, client acquisition, and long-term partnership development. This role focuses on expanding the company’s software development services into new and existing markets while leading a high-performing business development team.
1. Business Development & Strategy
- Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with company goals and revenue targets
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities to drive growth and market expansion
- Stay ahead of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities in the software development sector
- Conduct market research and analysis to inform strategic decision-making
2. Sales Leadership & Revenue Growth
- Own and manage sales quotas and ensure consistent achievement of revenue targets
- Oversee the full sales cycle from lead generation to closing high-value deals
- Track, analyze, and report key performance metrics such as revenue growth, customer acquisition cost (CAC), and retention rates
- Optimize sales processes to improve conversion rates and overall efficiency
3. Client & Partner Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing clients, partners, and stakeholders
- Lead negotiations for contracts, pricing, and partnership agreements
- Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and long-term account growth
- Represent the company as a trusted advisor in client engagements
4. Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage the business development and sales team
- Set clear performance goals and ensure accountability across the team
- Foster a high-performance, results-driven culture
- Provide coaching and professional development opportunities for team members
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with marketing, product, and delivery teams to align business development efforts with company capabilities
- Ensure smooth coordination between sales commitments and project delivery
- Contribute to pricing strategies, service offerings, and go-to-market planning
6. Brand & Market Presence
- Strengthen the company’s brand positioning in the software development market
- Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities
- Build a strong professional network to support long-term business growth
Minimum Qualifications
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Information Technology, or a related field
- Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is a strong advantage
- 8–12+ years of experience in business development, sales, or revenue leadership roles
- At least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing sales or business development teams
- Proven track record in B2B sales, preferably within software development services, IT consulting, SaaS, or technology solutions
- Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding multi-million revenue targets
- Experience in managing end-to-end sales cycles, including enterprise-level deal negotiations and closures
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in international markets or managing global clients
- Existing network within the software development or IT services industry
- Exposure to outsourcing/offshoring business models
- Experience working in startups or high-growth organizations
