Job Description
The Tax and Compliance Supervisor will be responsible for Tax compliance and management, Board of Investments (BOI), statutory reporting to the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and other regulatory bodies. The incumbent is also responsible for the recovery of Input Value-Added Tax (VAT) and for the provision of financial reports to other concerned departments for the purpose of regulatory compliance [SEC, BIR and Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), and other regulatory bodies, as applicable].
- Prepares monthly and special reports to management on status of BIR tax audits, VAT claims and status of court cases relating to taxes.
- Reviews and analyzes material transactions to ensure tax compliance and provides feedback to the accounting team and to management on a timely manner.
- Informs other finance team members about new tax regulation on a timely manner, and conduct orientation to the team.
- Serves as the finance team resource in ensuring tax compliance in the day-to-day transaction processing.
- Coordinates and discusses with the team leaders the tax impacts of contracts and other purchase/sale transactions prior to the finalization.
- Reviews monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns (EWT, VAT, Withholding taxes, Income tax, and other applicable tax types), and ensures timely remittance of corresponding tax amounts.
- Handles BIR audits and other BIR inquiries.
- Ensures correctness of computed tax obligations and monitor prompt settlement of such taxes.
- Responsible for the timely filing of administrative claims for VAT refund as well as judicial claims.
- Completes documentation required for VAT refund claims; responsible for the follow-up and monitoring of the status of outstanding VAT claims (both administrative and judicial claims).
- Responsible for conversion of Tax Credit Certificate (TCC) into Tax Debit Memo, and its timely application against the company’s tax liabilities.
- Prepares annual tax plans and forecasts and submits the same to the management; monitor actual results against approved tax plan/forecast.
- Ensures company compliance to tax regulations.
- Ensures prompt submission of statutory reports to BIR, SEC, BOI, ERC, and other government regulatory bodies, as applicable
- Provides financial reports and other necessary financial information to other concerned departments in relation to regulatory compliance on a timely manner.
- Ensures accuracy of computations and timely remittances thereof.
- Coordinates with parent company’s legal team and external counsel on status of tax cases.
- Coordinates with CSR Supervisor and Aboitiz Foundation Inc. to avail of Adopt-a-School tax incentives and other similar incentives; ensure documentary requirements are complied with, on a timely basis.
- Monitors all tax incentives availed by the company arising from various laws.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a Bachelor’s degree holder in Accountancy
- Preferably a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Must have the ability to work under pressure and can perform task with minimal or no supervision
- Must be keen on details
- Must have at least two (2) years of leadership experience
- Must have at least five (5) years of related work experience
