Job Description

Summary of Work Activities and Responsibilities:

The Assistant to the Director supports the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the undergraduate curricula with emphasis on the core curriculum and its integration with the major and co-curriculum programs within the formation framework of Ateneo de Manila Undergraduate Education.

I. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A. Policy Review and Implementation

1. Policy Review and Guidelines

  • Serves as project manager in the preparation of manuals and guidelines on curriculum development and review

B. Curriculum Development and Monitoring

1. Curriculum Development and Implementation Process Guide

  • Guides Committee-endorsed proposals through the approval process and if required, the HE Committee of the BOT, in coordination with the Office of the VPHE

2. Periodic Curriculum Review and Evaluation

  • Serves as project manager for the periodic review of:
    • undergraduate degree programs
    • other undergraduate curricular programs such as minors, specializations, tracks, etc.
    • core curriculum

3. Curriculum Development Meeting Documentation

  • Ensures that Curriculum Committee meetings are well-documented; in-charge of preparation fo minutes of meetings

4. Curriculum Development Progress Monitoring

  • Prepares the summary report on program proposals for review by the Director prior to deliberations by the Curriculum Committee, ascertaining compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements

5. Curriculum Consultation

  • Assists the Director in matters that may impact the design and implementation of the curriculum such as, but not limited to, assessing the possible impact of other programs on the Ateneo core curriculum and vice versa.

6. Curriculum Compliance

  • Evaluates program compliance with CHED CMO requirements and reports to the Director for appropriate action

7. Curriculum Development Endorsement and Approval Process

  • Drafts Curriculum Committee letters to proposing departments/programs

C. Core Curriculum Development and Monitoring

1. Core Curriculum Alignment

  • Coordinates the scheduling of onboarding and training workshops for faculty/professional handling core courses in coordination with Schools, Departments, and Programs

2. Course Validation

  • Assists the Director in reviewing the curricula of major programs with a study abroad component to ensure that they meet the objectives of the Ateneo core curriculum

3. Core Curriculum Promotion

  • Reviews promotional materials on curriculum integration

II. Curriculum Maintenance

A. Curriculum Cataloging and Indexing

  • Works closely with the Curriculum Maintenance Supervisor in ensuring the correctness of existing and information uploaded on the student information student

III. Records Management

A. Records Management System

  • Develops and maintains the office records management system

B. Curriculum Committee Files

  • Maintains files of Curriculum Committee meetings

IV. Office Management

A. Fiscal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Budget Preparation
    • Assists the Director in the regular review and updating of Job Descriptions of office personnel

B. Supervisorial Duties and Responsibilities

  • Trains and supervises the
    • Curriculum Development Officer
    • Curriculum Development Assistant
  • Manages the performance of employees in the team by setting standards/targets, monitoring, and evaluating performance, and providing development opportunities

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Very good oral and written communication skills in both English and Filipino: expresses ideas clearly, delivers information in an organized manner, listens actively
  • Very good interpersonal skills: interacts with people effectively, shows empathy
  • Demonstrates strong project management skills - time management, goal-setting, collaboration, problem-solving, organization, communication, critical thinking
  • High work standards: pays close attention to details, provides accurate and complete information, ensures confidentiality of information
  • Motivated and hardworking: commits to putting in additional time and effort, maintains high levels of productivity, works with minimal supervision
  • Resilient: able to cope well with short deadlines and significant pressure
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research and a capacity to work with data derived from monitoring and evaluation reports on courses and programs
  • Demonstrates familiarity with Outcomes-Based Education
  • Familiar with the Ignatian Educational Framework and Pedagogy
